Impact Area I
The Youth and Florentix Climate Think Tank
Empowering the Next Generation of Climate Leaders, Green Skills and Eco-Entrepreneurship
Florentix Journal Florentix PodcastWe believe that climate science belongs to everyone, and that youth must lead the way in sustainable innovation. However, young people have told us that climate information is often too technical, inaccessible, or biased. Our youth impact area exists to break down these barriers by providing clear pathways for young people to understand the climate crisis and build careers solving it.
Our Offerings

Accessible Climate Resources and Sensory-Friendly Guides tailored for cognitive accessibility.
Green Skills and Eco-Entrepreneurship
The transition to a low-carbon economy is creating hundreds of thousands of new opportunities, but developing an appropriately skilled workforce is critical. The demand for green skills is rapidly outpacing supply, with the UK now counting over 690,000 full-time equivalent green jobs. Yet, many young people feel they lack the right skills, training resources, or mentoring to guarantee them a dignified job in the green economy.
We empower young individuals through specialized eco-entrepreneurship programs that foster innovation and environmental stewardship. By equipping youth with practical skills, we bridge the gap between climate passion and professional careers. Modern green jobs are not confined to traditional environmental sectors; in fact, more than half of green hires today sit in non-green job titles, meaning sustainability skills are now essential across operations, technology, and finance.
Through comprehensive training in environmental issues, sustainable practices, and advocacy, we facilitate the mentorship programs necessary to help young people become resilient leaders. Our goal is to equip every young person with the green skills needed to actively contribute to, and thrive in, a just transition for all.
The Current Landscape
The Green Jobs Boom: The UK reached 652,100 full-time green jobs in 2024, a 27.8% increase since 2015.
Health & Education Risks: Climate-driven heat could reduce academic achievement by up to 7% annually, and worsening air quality may increase childhood asthma by up to 11%.
The Skills Gap: Demand for green talent is growing twice as fast as the supply of skilled workers, and 30% of workers say they lack the skills for the energy transition.
Youth Demand: 58% of Gen Z workers specifically want a career contributing to climate action, yet over half (53%) of green hires are for non-traditional green roles, requiring adaptable skills.
The Equity Gap: Approximately 957,000 UK youth (aged 16-24) are currently not in education, employment, or training (NEET).
